Impatiens (Electric Orange) & Begonia (Vodka) ~~ June 2016

When Anyone Is Sick, That's Sad ... ~~ August 1974

This was sent to me at Johns Hopkins by my uncle Pete & his family and I'm sure it was Ann who wrote the inscription inside.  She writes:

Dear Shelby,

We are so glad to hear that you have come through your surgery with flying colors!  Your mother and father must be so proud to have such a brave young lady as you.

We hope you will continue your speedy recuperation and maybe when you are feeling really good again, we can come to see you.

Love & best wishes,

Pete, Ann & Patti

Longwood College ~~ Publication For Prospective Students ~~ 1977

The postmark on this is September 13th, 1977.  The college application was inside the back of the handbook and if I remember correctly I filled it in that fall and received the confirmation of my acceptance the following February.

Ballou Park ~~ Danville, VA ~~ June 2016

We visit Ballou Park about 2 or 3 times a year and the last two times took along a picnic lunch.  My mother loved this park as a child in the 1930s and its not hard to understand why.  Good job, Danville!

Middleton Place Brochure ~~ Charleston, SC ~~ 1980s

Mom and Grandma took two bus tours to the Charleston area in the 1980s and loved it.  Mom insisted that Dad go with her for a third visit but he refused to take the bus tour because he didn't like to be around "old people".  He drove instead and they had a great time! And no old people!
