A whimsical look at a lifetime of personal ephemera collected with no particular aim in mind except it was either too interesting, too funny, too sentimental or too pretty to part with! Welcome and enjoy!
Grandma sent me this postcard when she went with a neighbor family to Ocean City, NJ for a week.
She wrote:
This is not like Atlantic City but I'm enjoying it. I can't walk the boardwalk much though - get pain in my chest. So tonight they went up & I just went for postcards & came back. Write me at home.
Hello! I've been transferred to Germany now. Like I've promised, I send you my address. This is a very small city in the near of Koln. I will tell you more about the situation in a letter.
"Hi Honey, seeing these trees was a real experience. It is really different here in California. We will start back tomorrow. Hope everything is fine there. Love, Mama"
"Hi Honey, Came through Memphis about noon today. Tennessee is very nice. So far, Arkansas is flat farmland. We are in Conway, Ark. tonight (Wed.). It is a bit past Little Rock. Weather nice. Love, Mama & Dad"
"Hi Honey, We are getting ready to drive into the park this morning. Stayed last night in Gallup, New Mexico. Hope everything there is okay. It is rather cool here in the morning but went to 90F yesterday."
"Hi Honey, we are in Cookeville, Tenn. This is beautiful country, a little cool. Hope you are doing okay there. Should be in Little Rock, Ark. tomorrow."
This hotel is nice - ice skating & all. Our room has stove, fridge & sink. We ate Maryland crab cakes last night. They were delicious. They have a "kiosk" lounge here. Will write more later. Love, Grandma
