Dear Shelby,

Did you get your same room this year?  I bet it looks nice since you painted it.  Are you taking the dancing class?  I love to dance.  I think I could dance by the time I could walk.  When I was small we put on shows & had a "chorus line"!  Used to charge a penny!  Such a long time ago.

Today is really cool & overcast.  I just closed some windows.

The Fair started Tuesday & yesterday was Senior Citizen's Day but I didn't go.  It is just a big carnival.  I would rather go up to the Danbury, Connecticut Fair.  I wish your Mom could come up & go.  It is Oct. 3-12.  Bus fare & admission is $23.  I've been 2 times.

If this weather doesn't get any better, our picnic won't be much fun.  It has been like this for a week.

I'm glad you will send Tess a card.  When she got those others from you, she called me & was all excited.  I feel sorry for her but she irritates me to no end at times but she is good hearted.  Last Saturday she brought me down a blueberry muffin & always wants to know if I want anything else.

I have a job!  The man that runs the Parkland Bindery, Henry Haas, came up and asked me if I knew of anyone who could stay with his mother for a week to ten days.  She lives alone and is in the hospital & had some toes removed.  He is supposed to bring her home tomorrow.  He says she won't be able to do much at first but he wants someone there just to be with her ~ not to do anything ~ maybe make her something to eat.  I hated to say no because you never know when you might need help so I said yes.  She only lives about 1/2 a mile away.  Henry owns the Bindery behind Donna's house.  He is a classic fat Dutchman.

Well hon, Write when you can.

Love always,

Grandma

P.S.  I am reading "Kane & Abel".
