Dear Shelby,

Thanks for your nice letter.  Always glad to hear from you.

I hope you enjoy "The Thorn Birds" when you get to see it.  I loved Richard Chamberlain in that series.

This week has been a headache!  First, my roof leaked -- just at the foot of the bed.  We are supposed to be getting a new roof this month.  About 5 or 6 apartments on this floor have leaks.  We are the top floor.  I have a big stain on my ceiling.  The roofer came & put a patch on it until they get here to do the whole roof.  I had plastic, towels & a bucket under it.

Now, tomorrow the exterminator comes.  I had to clear all my cabinets & one closet out.  I have stuff stuck everywhere.  Under the sink I had pots & pans & my cleaning stuff.  Then I had to move all my dishes out of the top cabinet.  What a mess.  I have to wash all my dishes before I can put them back.  I can only do so much then I'm tired.  Ruth offered to help get the dishes out because they are heavy.

They have been using sprinklers in the Rose Garden.  It is always lovely.

The doctor told me not to worry too much about some of the things I eat.  He said, at my age a few eggs a week will not hurt me, nor a dish of ice cream or a bacon/lettuce & tomato sandwich.  So I don't worry too much when I do something like that.

I'm glad you liked the cards I sent.

I hope you didn't get any damage from that awful tornado they had in Colonial Heights & Petersburg.  They showed it several times on tv.  I'm glad your Mom was home.

Well, not much news (Harold is holding his own).  Write when you can & take care.

Love always,
Grandma
