Dear Shelby,
Thanks for the nice letter. I delayed in answering because I was going to Atlantic City & would have more news.
Yes, I found a bag at Hess's but it really wasn't what I wanted but it will do.
No, I haven't made any rice pudding for a while. I started to make some about a week ago because Ruth brought me an extra 1/2 gallon of milk. She gets two 1/2 gallons delivered every Friday morning & she had excess. I had just bought 1/2 gallon but I didn't get around to making the rice pudding.
I hope you get the music box on time.
Yes, I'm ready for Fall TV. It stinks at this time. I fall back on the National Geographic programs. I enjoy them.
I suppose you received my card from Atlantic City. Well, I really enjoyed it. Our tickets cost $19.50 & they give you three slips - one for $10 in quarters when you get into the casino, & one for $2.50 toward a meal. The other is a $5 deferred slip that you can use when you go the next time.
I used the $10 and won about $20 - but I put it all back in. I didn't use any of my own money.
We walked up to the "Taj" & it is really something to see. The carpets are royal purple & some have designs in them. The girls that carry around the drinks (for anyone who is playing and wants one, free of charge, of course) -- they are dressed in skimpy costumes & have a hat on like a fez only it has plumes on top. The chandeliers are gorgeous. It is about a mile up the boardwalk from Trump Plaza where we were. The weather was cloudy & windy. I was so tired yesterday. My legs weren't used to that much exercise. We ate in the Broadway Deli - one of the many dining areas in the casino. It was cafeteria style. My main course was pepper steak. I had a cannolli & an Italian ice for dessert. It was $8.50 plus the $2.50 slip. Everywhere you looked it was just mind boggling. It was so beautiful. You sure see some sights walking along the boardwalk. We saw lots of deer along the Atlantic City expressway. They didn't seem to be afraid. We left here at 8:25 AM & returned at 7:30 PM. The bus left Atlantic City at 5:00 PM.
Well hon, I guess I've run out of steam for this time so let me hear from you when you have time.
I'm sending you a newspaper picture of the crowd at the stadium on the 4th for the fireworks. Ruth, Harold and I sat out front of our building & watched.
Take care.
Love always,
Grandma
Love to Jack
