Grandma Letter ~~ August 1996
She wrote:
Dear Shelby,
Thanks for the nice letter. It is another gloomy day. It is supposed to rain off & on all week.
Your Mom said they might come up this week. If so, I will see if they will take the cactus back for you.
Our church had their festival this weekend. I am sending you a list of some of the goodies you could get. They have it on the church parking lot & in the church hall. Donna & her crowd used to run the hot dog stand, but when Donna got sick they stopped it.
Mrs. Wallace has a birthday on the 28th & her niece Bunny had a party for her down at Collegeville at one of Bunny's daughter's home. They just got back from Russia & other far places & next week they are going to rent a house at the beach for 2 weeks & have all the family down. They have 4 daughters & a son.
I bought Mrs. Wallace an African violet for her birthday. She said she wanted one & I saw some so thought it would be nice for her birthday.
Ruth comes home tomorrow. I'm sure she enjoyed herself.
I am reading an account of the battles between Santa Anna & Sam Houston, by James Mitchner.
Well hon, no more news at this time, so take care & write soon.
Love always,
Grandma
Love to Jack!
