Dear Shelby,

Received your letter yesterday & I agree with you.  I had rather be here, even though our temperature was -15 below on Friday.  We had another bad snow storm on Wednesday ~~ over 12 inches on top of the 8 inches we already had.  The front driveway looked like a city of igloos.  Every car was completely covered with 12 inches of snow and you couldn't tell what was under the snow.  It cost me $15 to get mine shoveled out, after the plow came through.  We have snow mounds at each end of the drive about 15 feet tall.  It will be here on July 4th!

Thursday I finally got up the nerve to try & start my car & get it out, so Ruth & I went to the Giant.  The shelves were almost empty.  I didn't need much but I wanted to run my car.  My apartment is nice & toasty.  We were asked not to use the washers & dryers if we didn't have to because of the low power.  Luckily the weather is supposed to moderate by tomorrow.

I'm going to make the dirt cake today.  I am going to 1/2 it.  I thought it was good when I ate it at Donna's.

I want to get a haircut Monday ~~ if we aren't snowed in again.

I am reading "Dreams of Gold".  It is good.  I know I will enjoy them all.

Well hon, not much more news from here so write when you can & love to Jack.

Love always,

Grandma
