The Sky Inspiration Test

Beginnings Inspire You

You are independent and original. You are highly inventive and creative.

You love undertaking new and interesting projects. You have lots of ideas.

You have a delightful and colorful inner world. People would be stunned if they could see inside your head.

You aren't afraid of failure. Tomorrow is always another beginning.

Side Porch - May 2002

Memorial Stadium, Baltimore

My father took me to a Baltimore Orioles baseball game in either 1969 or 1970, I can't remember the exact year!  Despite his best efforts, I never turned into an avid baseball fan but I did enjoy going to that particular game.  I can't even remember who they played against but I don't think it mattered ... just being at the stadium and being part of the excitement was enough.  The stadium no longer stands, having been demolished in 2002.  Here's an interesting history ~~~~~> http://www.ballparks.com/baseball/american/memori.htm

My Mother - 1930s

Coconut Thumbprint Cookies

Happy Birthday Thoughts

I love this birthday card from Grandpa & Mildred sent in the 1960s!  It reminds me somewhat of the artwork you see on older postcards from the late 1800s & early 1900s.  The pretty drawing is set off by a profusion of glitter making it all sparkly and cheerful!

The Colonel - 1995

"If" for girls

My grandmother gave me this card when I graduated from college and dated it May 15, 1982.  There's a poem inside by Gale Baker Stanton called "If" that you can read here ~~~~~> http://therosarytrail.com/have-you-ever-read-this-poem/

What Peanuts Character Are You?

You Are Linus

You are an optimistic and open minded person. You believe that everything will work out in the end.

You are very kind and forgiving. You're always willing to give someone another chance.

You are highly creative and innovative. People sometimes just don't get what you're doing.

You are brainier and smarter than people realize. You are always thinking, plotting, or dreaming.

Roscoe - 1995

Roscoe was a brown husky mix that we adopted in the 1980s from the Richmond SPCA.  He was about a year old at the time and his previous owners had taken him to the shelter because he chased the neighbor's ducks.  He was a very nice dog and we had him for about 10 years before he passed away suddenly of a heart attack while playing in the backyard.  He would have loved living here with us but died while the house was being built and never made it out here.  I think my favorite memory of him was his getting out of the fence one winters day when we were at work and a neighbor boy took him home with him.  When we went to pick him up, he was curled up on the couch by the woodstove watching tv with his new friend and seemed reluctant to come home!!  Well, who could blame him!

The Colonel - 2000

Count me in with all the rest ...

This get well card came to me in the early 1970s from my grandmother's friends Ruth & Harold.  Being an animal lover, I loved it!  The skunk on the right reminds me a little bit of Pepe LePew!

Birthday Express

This adorable fold-out train card was given to me by a neighborhood friend that I used to play with.  She was about 2 years older which is a lot when you're 5 or 6 years old ... and I was sooooo impressed that she had the entire collection of Dr. Seuss books ... they were lined up on a bookshelf in her bedroom.  Okay, maybe I was easily impressed but come on ... they were books ... AND Dr. Seuss ...

If the idea has ever crossed your mind ...

This tri-fold get well card was sent by my grandmother in the early 1970s. An oldie but a goodie!  She signed it "Love to my honey, Grandma"

I tried rotating it but can't seem to get it right so just tilt your head to the left for the full effect!  :)

What color crayon are you? Take the quiz!

You Are a Yellow Crayon

Your world is colored with happy, warm, fun colors.

You have a thoughtful and wise way about you. Some people might even consider you a genius.

Charming and eloquent, you are able to get people to do things your way.

While you seem spontaneous and free wheeling, you are calculating to the extreme.

Your color wheel opposite is purple. You both are charismatic leaders, but purple people act like you have no depth.

A message for the graduate

The design on this card is simple but it's a good message.  I received this card in 1978 for high school graduation and it's from friends of my grandmother.  I never met them but she spoke fondly of them and they always sent cards on special occasions.

Great Car

We were at a Valero gas station in Dinwiddie County a few days ago and this snazzy little car pulled into the parking lot.  I love seeing one of a kind vehicles and this one was great!

For a sweet girl who's 5

This American Greetings card opens to a spray of flowers popping up ... sweet!  It was given to me in 1965 by 3 sisters that lived next door to us for a while.

Serious Humidity

It has been extremely humid here this summer and about 2 weeks ago I took this photo around 10:00 AM.  It was foggy with temps in the 100Fs ... yuck!

Summer early 1960s

I'm not sure if I'm holding something for the camera or just holding my hands!

She sells seashells down by the seashore

Another seasonal Mary Engelbreit print!

A Cheery Note

This sweet get well card was sent in the early 1970s by Ruth & Harold who were friends of my grandmother.  I think for years I never even knew they had a last name ... it was always just "Ruth & Harold"!  Like my grandmother, they have both since passed away but I still have my card with glitter!
