Petunia - February 2015

Downtown Pedestrian Mall, Tulsa, Oklahoma - 1981

Grandma received this postcard from her good friend Ruth who was in Tulsa visiting her son & his family before traveling on to Tacoma, Washington to visit her daughter & family.  The postcard is postmarked in Tacoma on May 27, 1981.  She writes:

"Hi, Tulsa was great. The weather no.  I'm at Brenda's now.  They like the nightgowns and they all fit.  See you soon,

Love,  Ruth"

It's a Message From Your Dentist

Grandma would sometimes enclose cartoons in her letters and here's a gem from the late 1980s:

All Things Bright And Beautiful - 1980

My mother sent this note card to me at college on April 28, 1980.  She writes:

"Did you have a nice weekend?  We had terrible weather.  We had a bad storm last night that knocked the power out for about an hour and a half.  Of course, we didn't even have water, and you know how dark it is down here.  Dad lit the oil lamp.  It gives off right much light.

We did manage to get the tomatoes planted.

I think I told you that we are going to Grandma's Friday morning if nothing happens at work (like Margaret in the hospital or something).  Grandma called yesterday.  So if you need us over the weekend and we aren't here, her phone # is xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Well Honey, be good and study hard.  Hello to Katherine.  Write often.

Love,

Mama"
