Grandma Letter ~~ September 1990

Ruth is clearly a good judge of character!

Grandma writes:

Dear Shelby,

I hope you have a nice 4 days off.  The weather here is great.  In the 70s and 50s at night.  All week is supposed to be like that.

Jack's cake was very pretty & I'm sure it tasted great.  I'm sure he was pleased.

No, I very seldom watch the telethon.  I never liked Jerry Lewis.  Some of the guests are good though.

That picture of Dorney Park was only a small section of it.  Just the water part of it.  Yes, it is very crowded in the summer & closes late in the fall for the winter.

From the looks of the previews of the coming attractions for the fall tv fare, I don't think it is getting any better. I can't wait for "Knots Landing" to start & also Dallas.  I've watched "Knots Landing" from the beginning.

Ruth & I have a deferred coupon for $5.00 in cash plus when we go to Atlantic City we get another $10.  We want to go very soon because it gets dark earlier every day & I would have to drive home from out at Crest Plaza (where I used to live).  The bus usually gets back about 7:30 PM.  It leaves here at 8:30 AM.

Harold is doing great.  He drives & is going to the doctor only every 3 months.

I just read "California Gold" in one of the Reader's Digest Condensed Books.  It was very good.  John Jakes writes good stories.

Ruth really was thrilled to get a birthday card from you.  She thinks you are the "greatest"!  Wishes her grandchildren were more like you.

Well hon, I must get going so write when you can.  Thanks again for the nice letter.  Love to Jack.

Love always,

Grandma
