Grandma Letter ~~ Postmarked September 21, 1996

Dear Shelby,

I love your card.  I would enjoy seeing Williamsburg again.

You can plant your mums outside before the weather changes.  It will only go up into the 60s this coming week.  The nights are cold!

Did I tell you Ruth is going to Ocean City, MD for a week?  A lady she went to school with goes on trips a lot and asked her to go along.  It is nice down there.  We went one summer & had a lot of fun.  We went to Tangier Island and the food was great!

There isn't much news here except "old lady gossip".

Write when you can and take care.  Love to Jack!

Love always,

Grandma

P.S.  I love your address stickers.

Dear Shelby,

Thanks for the nice letter.  Such a pretty card.

I visit Dr. Shore on Nov. 15th.  He said I could go ahead with the implant surgery if I wanted it done.  I don't have much choice.  It needs doing.

The weather here is great.  In the 60s during the day & low 40s at night.  My heat has kicked in a few times already.

Your Mom & Dad's visit was too short.  Better than nothing though!

Did you get your new Xmas Herrschner's catalog?  Some pretty things in there.

I want to get up to the Farmer's Market this morning & get some Bosc pears.  They are just coming in now.  They are a late pear.

I finished your Mom's sampler.  It sure is pretty.

When I have my eye done, I won't be able to read.  I can watch tv though.  You are not allowed to bend over either.  Have to be careful.

Well hon, I better get this in the mail, so write when you can & take care.

Love always,
Grandma

Love to Jack!

Me, Mom & Grandma After I Was Allowed To Greet Them As They Left The Plane ~~ Byrd Airport, Richmond, Va ~~ Mid 1960s

As I've been told, I became quite distressed when all the other passengers came as well.  I honestly thought only Mom & Grandma were on the airplane.
